A unique presentation of peliosis hepatis: A case report and comprehensive review of the literature

Introduction: Peliosis hepatis (PH) is a rare benign vascular condition characterized by dilatation of hepatic sinusoids with occasional involvement other organs. While associated chronic immunosuppression, anabolic steroid use, oral contraceptive (OCP) human immunodeficiency virus/acquired syndrome (HIV/AIDS), and infection Bartonella, most PH patients are asymptomatic and, thus, identified incidentally. Compromised liver function sometimes evident through laboratory tests; however, mortality results from cyst rupture hemorrhage spontaneously or during surgical procedures. Case Report: We report case in 33-year-old Black female radiologically evaluated for abnormal tests. Computed tomography (CT) revealed enhancement >100 lesions throughout both lobes; CT-guided biopsy mild macrovesicular steatosis marked sinusoidal dilation, consistent peliosis hepatis. Conclusion: also present comprehensive literature review describing the conditions, pathology, diagnostic methods, treatment options patients.
